This is an entry originally posted on DW. This link takes to you to Reception
The Reception Desk was created a few years ago when we had some major disruptions on LJ.  Seems as though that is a theme we've seen played out too often.  What we do is benign, unless you are in the camp that considers imagination and creativity and a love of good looking guys in suits something to be feared or maligned.  We just like to read and write about the Man from UNCLE.
So, maybe it isn't a big huge some kind of deal.  But what if it is?  Don't we proceed with caution and hopefully a measure of wisdom?
That's why we're on Dreamwidth, to take advantage of what appears to be a safe harbor in what is, unfortunately, some murky waters that are patrolled by people we may not want to meet.
Hysterical?
No, just cautious.
Some of us have worked pretty hard to create these communities, and protecting the integrity of the content is a responsibility I think should be taken seriously.
And so, here we are in the waiting room, hoping for the best but prepared for what might come down the pike.
Questions? Answers? Feel free to lodge all of it here in Reception.

I post this story every year before Easter.  It's not long, or complicated.  I do think it captured what I envision as the conflict and conscience of our Russian agent regarding his religious inheritance and the state imposed ban on faith based thought or actions.  I think there's a void waiting to be filled in every human heart, including Illya's.

SORRY I'M A LITTLE LATE ...WELL A LOT LATE, POSTING THE WRITER'S CHOICE BLURB.  I HAVEN'T BEEN SLEEPING WELL AS OF LATE AND TOOK SOMETHING TO HELP ME NOD OFF...IT WORKED A BIT TOO WELL HOWEVER.  THEN AGAIN, MAYBE I NEEDED A GOO LONG SLEEP.

ANYWAY...

Attention writers and readers!

It's time to post links to your MFU stories here in Section VII written by you.
Or you can post links to stories written by your favorite authors!

Given the new Terms of Service with Live Journal we suggest going forward
to only posting stories using links to outside sites that host all stories.

Lots of MFU tales out there that have been lost in the cyber world,
time to find them and bring them back into the now.

Remember,
Section VII is a gen site, though you can post gen-mature stories here as well.
(stories can contain some mild violence or mild het, but nothing graphic or explicit please!)

If you want to rec a Het, AU, long term romance or more graphically violent story,
post  all links under WRITER'S AND READER'S CHOICE!
in mfu_map_room.

Any other genre should be rec'd, with links posted under WRITER'S AND READER'S CHOICE in uncle_du_jour.

[livejournal.com profile] rosywonder is one one of my favorite authors (as well as a friend) and I was in awe of her writing when I first discovered her stories years ago. I credit her (and a few others) with being the inspiration for me to begin my own journey into the world of fan fiction.

Summary:
A scientific colleague from Illya's past returns to wreak revenge, and to enable THRUSH to complete the ultimate infiltration of UNCLE New York. Will our dynamic duo overcome evil and pursue the loves of their lives?

It's a long read but well worth it!  And you'll see on the site that it's the prequel to her five part "Font of Life" stories. If the weather is warm where you are, go outside, wear some sunglasses and put your feet up to read Rosywonders delightful AU stories!  You won't regret it.

I'm always drawn to this story by our friend [livejournal.com profile] st_crispins. One of my favorites, and an inspiration for me to start writing my own MFU fanfiction.

Summary:
Personal and professional loyalties are put to the test when Solo and Kuryakin find themselves caught in the middle of a revolution in a small African nation.

SUMMARY: Who is Napoleon's Aunt Amy? She popped up in the Return Movie as the benefactress who left Napoleon the penthouse. Other than that, it's all up to our imaginations.

A different and pleasant take on just who Aunt Amy is by our own [livejournal.com profile] glennagirl A little shorter read from my other recs today.

SUMMARY: What do comic books, sleeper agents, Caliornia Valley, and Tesla all have in common? The latest THRUSH plot to take over the world. Mild cross with Are You Being Served Again/Grace and Favors.

Another long read and some chuckles.

A mysterious and intriguing story written by the late [livejournal.com profile] svetlanacat4, who is sorely missed not just as a writer but as a friend.

Summary: A stone circle, music and mystery. Illya and Napoleon look for a strange man... and meet him for a few minutes. Not really a crossover...

This is a short tale (only 640 words), but it's absolutely packed tight with angst. Basically, Illya is in medical and Napoleon is finding it hard to sit his usual vigil. Please enjoy.
