So, Clara dumps Napoleon because he's a spy and she can't be bothered with the danger, the absences, etc... Isn't that what we all have been thinking?
So, isn't it odd that she has enough  spy savvy to track down Napoleon in Italy in order to ... Oh, wait!  She needs a spy.  Ironic is one word for it, but truthfully, she's involved in this entirely shady intrigue scenario back home in Terbuf.
Why do you think Napoleon and Clara couldn't make a go of it?  Was it really the spy business that created the riff, or is she just that fickle?
What do you think?  I'm pretty sure Illya is suspicious.

Napoleon and Illya had returned to New York after helping Clara escape with her husband Stephan and the gypsy Emil to Italy. As they expected, Mr. Waverly had not been pleased about their delayed return though he grudgingly admitted that the paperwork Emil had brought out of Terbuf would be instrumental in toppling its corrupt government.

One For My Baby Lyrics
Translation in progress. Please wait...

It's quarter to three,
There's no one in the place 'cept you and me
So set 'em' up joe
I got a little story I think you oughtta know

We're drinking my friend
To the end of a brief episode
So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road

I know the routine
Put another nickel in that there machine
I'm feeling so bad
Won't you make the music easy and sad

I could tell you a lot
But you gotta to be true to your code
So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road

You'd never know it
But buddy I'm a kind of poet
And I've got a lot of things I want to say
And when I'm gloomy, won't you listen to me
Till it's all, all talked away

Well, that's how it goes
And joe I know you're gettin' anxious to close
So thanks for the cheer
I hope you didn't mind
My bending your ear

But this torch that I found
It's gotta be drowned
Or it soon might explode
So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road

Notes: Mandy’s comment about the field agents’ personnel files having false information in the event of THRUSH stealing them is my way of explaining the absolutely unbelievable heights on THRUSH’s info cards on Napoleon and Illya in “The THRUSH Roulette Affair.” And the case about the THRUSH submersible that Napoleon reminisces about is from a fic I haven’t yet written…

[livejournal.com profile] mrua7 started a discussion over on [livejournal.com profile] uncle_du_jour regarding the Gurnius Affair, which led me to think of a particular story I read a few years ago.  Turns out there is a page on Tumbler, Our Men From UNCLE, that lists every Gurnius related story they could locate.  There's quite a list.  You can find it HERE

Prompt: What if Napoleon did marry Pia in the Concrete Overcoat Affair?

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

"Pizza? Again?  Pia darling, is that the only meal you know how to prepare?"  Napoleon had been playing house with the pretty Italian girl for over a month now.  As of yet there was nothing remotely romantic about their marriage; it was in name only that they shared his name and apartment since their return from the island.

Prompt - In the Concrete Overcoat Affair, What if Pia and Napoleon had actually gotten married?

It all started when...well Napoleon at the moment couldn’t exactly remember where it all began. Oh yes, when he hid under the bed in Pia Monteri’s bedroom, and then her grandmother discovered him.

The girl was merely helping him when he was in trouble trying to escape from some Thrushies, and now here he was getting married to her. His presence in her boudoire had apparently sullied her reputation in the eyes of her family, even though nothing at all happened. That didn’t matter as no one would believe him, or Pia for that matter.

Now Napoleon, UNCLE agent extrodinaire, stood facing the girl who was dressed in a white wedding gown and veil, as well as a priest.  Pia’s grandmother had a shotgun in her hands and was aiming at her future grandson-in-law.

He couldn’t believe it; he was getting married? There was a sinking feeling in his stomach. What could he do? He was unarmed and surrounded by Pia’s entire family who were definitely packing guns.

We're forging ahead here with this challenge, and so far the stories have been really good.  We're off to a slow start in terms of numbers, but quality, as always, is high.

[livejournal.com profile] mrua7 had an interesting idea, and so we're going to be exploring an alternate ending to the Concrete Overcoat Affair.

What if Pia and Napoleon had actually gotten married?

You choose the how and the when of it, and any minor (or major), complications that could have arisen.
Stories should be Gen, or if need be Het (which posts in
[livejournal.com profile] mfu_map_room).
Word count is 500 words or more, with no limit.  Posting begins as soon as you get it finished, so it's on beginning now.
If you need to review the episode without watching it there is the photo recap on Lisas Framecap Library This is an excellent resource if you've not visited there before, and will take you through the episodes with images and dialogue.
Okay, fire away and happy writing.

This is my first full-fledged multichapter venture in the MFU fandom, so I have high hopes for it. I know I’m not the first to do a Gurnius aftermath fic, but I’m hoping my spin on it is unique enough. Also, in addition to focusing on the dynamic between Napoleon and Illya, as I usually do, I’ll also be featuring their interactions with some of their fellow colleagues (namely Mark, April, Mandy, and George).

Last day of my recuperation from the ER on Saturday.  I'll start with a drabble and work up to longer entries as the muse get's reignited.
.........................

"What are you doing Napoleon?"

"I'm writing a drabble."

… sigh…

"A What?"

smile…

"A drabble. One hundred words."

smirk…

"And why, may I ask, are you writing this, um… drabble?"

"I'm practicing."

exasperated sigh…

"For what, Napoleon?  Why do you need to practice, and why write … drabbles?"

"For my memoirs Old Boy.  One of these days I'll write a book about our exploits and I need to practice my writing skills now, so it will be an easy task when the day comes."

sigh…

"Memoirs? Tell UNCLE's secrets?"

"It will be a novel, disguised… you know."

"Like she did?"

… SMILE...

I've posted these previously, but it's cold outside and not likely to warm up any.  I'm hoping these will help out with the indoor temps at least.
My Vanya series actually begins with Illya and Marion, so I'm posting the two stories that are part of that storyline.
If you've never encountered my version of the Return Movie scenario, I hope you'll enjoy how it goes in my world.
