I agree with mrua7; this story does beg for a sequel, maybe taking place a few years later?
I was not expecting the audience to suffer, a very sad turn of events.
I do have one question: Who is Yancy? I missed something.
All in all, a great addition to the Song Story Challenge! Thanks for participating!
