Wow!
Thon is a roller-coaster of a story. I actually burst out laughing at this line: "the overall effect was of Santa, dragged out of bed after a very long bender"

and she has a great cast of characters.

But from about halfway in you're uneasily aware that something bad is going to happen and waiting for it...The suspense is just there, under the humour and surface froth all the time.
