I think the original concept of the show was two men who weren't the typical super hunky types, something we've all taken to heart... quite literally ;)
Little things point to them being 'just guys', albeit handsome, talented and heroic, but still just ordinary men.
Okay, they're not just ordinary, but it's okay if Napoleon isn't keen on being in the middle of the ocean without a boat. I sort of feel the same way.
