Wednesday Drabble: New Recruit

(It's been a long while since I've written MFU fics, and I thought I'd ease back into it by rejoining the weekly drabbles here. Also chose Illya this time since I usually write Napoleon fics.)

"Well, I think that covers all the formalities," Waverly said, sitting back in his chair. "Barring any unforeseen issues between now and then, you'll be officially instated as an UNCLE agent before the end of the week. Any questions, Mr. Kuryakin?"

Illya eyed the older man a moment, gaze sweeping the rest of the figures at the table as well. He received an encouraging nod from his own superior -- or, former superior now -- letting him know to speak freely. Returning his attention to his new boss, he took a deep breath. "Only one question, sir. Why did you choose me?"
