Never Assume
As he settled into a chair beside his partner, Napoleon couldn't help but notice the pair of bottles resting near Mister Waverly. His eyes kept straying to them as the meeting started - they were just so out of place. Both the shape of the bottles and the red ribbons told him that they were Grand Marnier, though why they were there was the question on his mind.
Of course, Mister Waverly noticed that Napoleon's gaze was not on him and called him on it.
"Is the day's briefing boring you, Mister Solo?"
Illya managed to keep a straight face even though seeing his partner flushing like a child caught with a hand in the cookie jar was a rare sight.
"No, Mister Waverly. Sorry, sir. I suppose I'm just more accustomed to seeing tea or coffee in here."
Mister Waverly glanced to the side, then gave a slight chuckle as he realized what it was Napoleon had been looking at.
"Ah yes. Those are just resting there until I take them home this evening. Rather a ritual at our household to have Crepe Suzette with Sunday brunch and I had allowed our supply of Grand Marnier to become low."
"Mrs. Waverly likes to cook crepes?"
The look on Mister Waverly's face grew even more amused.
"No. I do. Now, shall we recommence with our briefing, gentlemen?"
After they returned to their office, Napoleon chuckled as he sank into his chair.
"Well, chum? I guess that proves the old adage that you learn something new every day."
"Actually, today only confirmed what I already knew, Napoleon."
"And what's that?"
"Never assume anything where either Waverly is concerned."
