Would you believe when I first published it way back when, someone who was originally from NO was annoyed with me for doing a voodoo story. With her attitude being that she was tired of that being associated with the city. Well duh, # 1 like it or not it had and still has a strong presence there, and #2 what else is exactly spooky about N.O. ? Yeah the cemeteries are kinda scary because of the climatic conditions down there. Anne Rice already did the vampire thing, and at least my story had some historical basis to it. She acted like I had no right to be writing about N.O. so I did remind her that I had family that went way back in that neck of the woods.
