Thank you to everyone who took part in the last Short Affair challenge. We had some wonderful stories, and it's great to know there are tales still to be told.

Here are the prompts for the next two weeks. You can post your story any time between now and August 20th.

All the rules, plus the prompts themselves are down below, but the basic idea is simple. Write us a gen story, based on one or both of the prompt words, plus the colour, which is between 300 and 1000 words in length. (If you go over a little, no worries.)

Just remember, that wherever you post it (e.g. AO3), leave us link to follow.

Following the rather successful trial run of the Short Affair challenge a couple of weeks ago, it is now back to being a scheduled challenge.

For the time being I will be posting prompts every two weeks, and you can post your stories at anytime until the next prompts. All the rules, plus the prompts themselves are down below, but the basic idea is simple. Write us a gen story, based on one or both of the prompt words, plus the colour, which is between 300 and 1000 words in length. (If you go over a little, no worries.)

Just remember, that wherever you post it (ie AO3), leave us link to follow.

Have fun everyone, and I hope we get as good a response, if not better, than the last one.

Up For Another Challenge?

The Short Affair Challenge is still ongoing for anyone who fancies taking a crack at it. However, how about another to run alongside?

The PicFic challenge has always been hosted by mrua7 in the past, so I hope she doesn't mind me treading on her toes with this. The premise is simple. Write a story based on the photograph below. For the time being, there will be no rules for this challenge. Make it whatever length you like, and post it whenever you like. (Hopefully, we'll be able to get back to our proper schedule, but until then we'll make do.)

The only thing you need to remember is that Section VII is a gen community.

Here's your prompt image, and I look forward to what comes from it.

I'm a day late again. I haven't had a personal routine for a fair few years, so I've relied on the routines of those around me. As no-one else has a proper routine at the moment either, I have no idea what I'm doing.

I've decided to make a slight change to the way stories are posted for the Short Affair challenge. As it stands at the moment, I post prompts on a Monday for stories to be posted the following Monday.

Spy Craftiness - New Year Drabble Challenge

Napoleon was still sleuthing around the office, hoping to discover Illya’s secret plans for New Year’s Eve. Today was the last opportunity he would have to declare victory over his secretive partner.

Casually strolling into the translations room, Napoleon approached Mandy, the woman who seemed to know everything that went on in HQ.

“Mandy my sweet, how are you today?” He oozed charm in that simple question, and she responded with the expected wistful smile.

“Oh Napoleon, have you come to see me? I’m … umm… honored.” The sweet smile became smug, a sure sign that she knew something interesting.

The story for these prompts is due a few days before the end of what, for most, has been a difficult year. Hopefully next year will give us all cause to be a little more optimistic. I know I have some heavy baggage weighing on me which needs to be exorcised. So, with that in mind, how about a few stories of renewal and hope?
