Late Night Birthday Greetings - A Little Drabble Do Ya

The guys had to work late tonight, so this is late as well.  Happy Birthday DMc/IK... Cheers!  A double drabble for the double birthday.
~~~~~:
“Illya, where’ve you been?”
The blond ducked his head, wishing he could avoid the questions he knew were coming.
“Hello, Napoleon.’
He quickly sat in his chair, anxious to retrieve an item from the desk drawer before leaving the building for the day.
“I was sent out on an errand for Mr. Waverly. Nothing special…”
Napoleon Solo didn’t know his new partner very well, but he did know it was the Russian’s birthday. Did Russians celebrate birthdays?
“Do you have plans for this evening? I’d like to treat you to dinner.”
Illya’s puzzled expression was genuine.
“Really? That is quite unnecessary, but I thank you for the offer.”
The American hesitated, wondering if Illya was accepting or rejecting the invitation.
“It’s your birthday, isn’t it? I thought we might have a bite, toast your day and, if you’re agreeable, our partnership. It’s a new day, tovarisch.”
Illya was impressed with the generosity of this invitation. It would be rude to refuse. Would it not?
“I would like that very much, Napoleon. It has been quite a long time...’
The look on Napoleon’s face prompted a quick response.
“… and I am pleased to mark the day with you, my friend.”
A gracious acceptance, yet the hesitation makes me wonder, hmmmm? Nice one.
This is very sweet; Illya seems a little unsure of himself and his partner. I like it.
Members locked again, Glenna.
[livejournal.com profile] elmey noted the other day in the newsletter comm that, if your personal journal is set with a default of friends-locked, you have to purposely change the setup of the post to Everyone (Public) when you post to any comm in which you are a member.
Like the way Napoleon offered the hand of friendship and Illya slow acceptions of someone willing to be his friend, must be thinking of things in the past.
