Defeat/Determination - A Little Drabble Do Ya
Sorry I've not been around for a long time. I've been ill for the last few months, and my mother-in-law died. Not a good year.
Napoleon sat watching the building burn, ears ringing, numb to the paramedic hovering over him.
UNCLE reinforcements had arrived, full of trite sympathy. It wasn't your fault. I know you tried. Tried. Sure, but trying wasn't enough.
"Mr Solo."
He blinked and Mr Waverly came into focus. "Sir."
"Quite a to-do. The records are all burned?"
"Yes." He swallowed thickly. "And the girl is...gone."
"I see." Mr Waverly regarded him for a long moment. "You will do better next time, Mr Solo."
It sounded like a threat, or a warning, but it made him feel so much better than any of the platitudes.
"Yes, sir," he promised.

My deep condolences for the death of your mother-in-law; and best wishes for your health, and for everything else.
