I'm a day late but hopefully not a dollar short. Just an FYI, PicFic will be on hiatus for the months of June and July....just a brief summer vacation to recharge.
Click on the pic to take you to 'The leaning tower affair.'
I love Napoleon and April's tourist act, especially the touch with the 'original idea' to look like he's holding up the tower. I wonder what will happen when Napoleon finds out who really pinned the pictures up.
(ps. We get a lot of American tourists in my are because of the medieval castle and cathedral. Most of them are lovely and polite but I did come across one couple who were exactly like 'Ernest and Irma'. He was unbelievably loud, and the zoom on his camera was long enough to take a picture of the cathedral from space, LOL. (pps. I've found that the worst tourists are Australian)).
hahaha! When I was traveling in Ireland, there was an American couple staying at the B&B I was at. I cringed every time they opened their mouths. Yet the woman of the house and I got along great...we'd sit on her stairs and chat while having tea. I laughed about constantly getting asked for directions while I was in town. (Limerick) and she told me because I looked like a 'local.' Made sense as my mom's family is from Limerick city and New Castle West.
Glad you liked the story and could appreciate the annoying tourists...a perfect act to get them thrown off the bus, and make their exit from their cover images. In my limited experience the worst tourists I've dealt with (and no insult intended) were Germans. I'm sure every country has their 'ugly' tourists...
I've just remembered another American one. I was having lunch in an out-of-the-way county pub. Sitting around the corner from us was a group of American walkers and one of them had such a loud and nasal accent. (I couldn't tell you which one, but it sounded like one of the southern states.) For a full hour, the only voice you could hear was hers. As they got up to leave, she obviously caught the look on my face and said 'Don't worry sweetheart, my accent is strange because I'm foreign.' I'm normally a shy and polite person, but without thinking I replied 'The accent is fine. It's the volume which is excruciating.' The way her friends sniggered, I think they would have liked to have thrown her out of the group, LOL.
Good for you! I can relate to that with a woman who worked the flea market I did last May through Sept. The woman had some sort of accent...maybe Polish...which was fine but it was the volume level, the pitch of her voice and the fact that she talked non-stop for hours and hours. It was like nails on a chalkboard.
I started bringing a boom box, blasting CD's so as to drown her out. hahaha!
