Thanks for this enjoyable informed snippet of 'first there's Accounting, then there's Thrush'. Solid characters, and good work on both guns and large organisation snafuosis.
I can completely understand Illya's preference for the guns he knows (not that I've ever held a gun. When you become proficient with something it can knock you off when you have to use something new. Personally, I like the idea of the UNCLE special. Not only can it be converted to a carbine, it also fires non-lethal sleep darts.
(PS. A usual, I have something in the works but it isn't ready yet. I'm combining it with my Short Affair (which I haven't written yet either))
Having handled handguns at my last job ( I was a pistol instructor for a private gun company) you can definitely develop a preference for a specific kind of gun. Was only able to use the owner's guns I actually preferred her Walther (which is what the Special is based upon)
Glad you liked the story! Thank you!
I have a Short Affair finished, and will probably post tomorrow or Thursday, depending upon being able to do a drabble or not.
Other guns may come and go, but the first gun is always special. (I think this quote is supposed to be about love, but whatever works for Illya.)
I have wondered about all the guns THRUSH confiscated when they were captured and if they ever got them back. I think the ones with their initials did disappear around S4, maybe that made them too much of a collectable for THRUSH.
The quote works perfectly! An I think you're right about a Solo and Kuryakin gun being a collectable...that is if the baddie lived to tell the tale. The agents did tend to lose a lot of guns, didn't they?

It was a gun related Picfic tied in with the Beatles song "Happiness is a warm gun." Deals with Illya's love of guns...
