Live Journal and Dreamwidth

This is for those of you who are primarily or singularly on Dreamwidth.  DW has always been our back up to Live Journal, whether during times when that site was down for repair, from hackers or our pique of outrage at the User Agreement we all objected to but signed anyway.  Well, we had to sign it, otherwise we were locked out.  Thus our pique.
What is posted here is generally second hand, imported from the original posting on LJ.  It may not always be posted in real time, but is done in a batch later in the day or sometimes the next day.
What I suppose I'm attempting to convey here is that if you want to be in the live stream of activity, you do need to be on LJ as well as Dreamwidth.  We still post links, primarily, to stories, and that to either ff.net or AO3.  I personally post to DW for certain challenges, but I've not been able to participate fully for a while now, so that hasn't been a factor much.
If you would like to join up over on LJ you'll need to open an account there, and then join the communities you're interested in.  We have the same 'sister' communities on LJ as here, listed below.  I hope this helps and that we'll see you on LJ if you're not there already.

Count me among the slightly confused.

I read and comment on both LJ and DW, but have been using DW exclusively for my journal posts and cross-posting when I make them available to friends or public. I read comments and answer comments both places. I'm still a bit unsure about who sees my "friends only" posts in both places.

I'm not on AO3 or FFNet. On the rare times I actually post fiction, I usually link to either my journal on DW or more often to the MfU Archive (I really like the indexing and find it easy to upload to it.) So if I post the link on LJ, does this work? Do I need an AO3 account too?
