The Hunt - A Little Drabble Do Ya

First, some inspiration...

The Arrow And The Song

I shot an arrow into the air,

It fell to earth, I knew not where;

For, so swiftly it flew, the sight

Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,

It fell to earth, I knew not where;

For who has sight so keen and strong,

That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak

I found the arrow, still unbroke;

And the song, from beginning to end,

I found again in the heart of a friend.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

~~~~~:
“Did you see where it landed?”
Napoleon shook his head.  It was a long shot, no matter how this turned out.
He chuckled at his unintended humor.
“What is funny?”
The Russian was in a dour mood this morning.
“I made a pun.  To myself, I just … never mind.”
Illya rolled his eyes and looked into the distance.
“My aim is generally very good, but I cannot … Wait, I think I see it.”
The lithe blond took off running, but Napoleon soon pulled up even with him as they headed towards the fallen prey.
The hunters’ remorse was great.
Better late than never...life sometimes gets in the way of art.
