The Reading Room - A look back at our beginnings

A Single Blue Tongue of Flame by [livejournal.com profile] carabele was the first story posted for our initial event, the Groundhog Day Challenge.  For the next few weeks the Reading Room will be taking a look back at the stories that opened up our comm and defined who we are within the MFU sites here on LJ.  We're about writing, and offering a steady calendar of opportunities for those who want to write and those who enjoy reading the results.  We've grown and learned from the process and each other.  I think that's a really good thing.

[chuckle] And to think, the longer story that was an aftertake on -- THE STICKING IN MUD AFFAIR -- still isn't finished one year later, and won't be for a good while yet since I'm now working on my story for the first QUOTEME challenge.

But STICKING IN MUD will indeed be finished... someday... I swear it! It just has such a complicated setup, that it's difficult to get it all across exactly how I want it.

Of course, the story for the first QUOTEME challenge I'm working on currently isn't much less complicated of a setup. But that one has a fixed deadline, so forces me think everything through more quickly. [wink]

Slow writer incorporated, that's me! [laugh]
