I wrote this quite a few years ago, but never published it, but seeing as today is the anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's shocking 1962 televised address to the nation on the Cuban missile crisis, I thought I'd post it. Comments are appreciated!
Left a review on the other site. This was so well done, you captured the angst, fear etc. well. I remember the crisis and can remember my feelings at the time. Thank you.
What a good story you have here. I love the process of collecting the things Illya treasured and would take comfort in on such a perilous journey. Well done you :D
I almost missed this truly wonderful story. I could physically feel the sadness and regret as it settled over Illya. You described beautifully just how it would be for a Soviet in America at that time.
