I hope we're all beginning to have a little bit of desire to write, and to help out with that I'm going to resume an older challenge; the daily prompt.  It doesn't need to be a long story or even a short story.  It can be a drabble or less than a drabble.  Just go with the first thing that comes to mind, a little free styling, if you will.

His partner slid a confectioner’s box carefully onto the table. As he opened the lid, Napoleon was enveloped by the aroma of sugar, vanilla, and … vodka?


“It is a called Napolyeon tort,” Illya said, noticing the senior agent’s slightly bemused expression as he gazed at the rich concoction of pastry, frosting and nuts. “A traditional Russian cake. I obtained the recipe from a friend at the Embassy, and the bakery agreed to make it as a special order. Happy Birthday, my friend.”


Taking another careful sniff, Napoleon smiled his approval. “It looks delicious, but we should probably skip the candles.”
