Young Illya wiped the tears he shed on his threadbare sleeve. The clothing he'd worn while hiding in the ruins of Kyiv and in the Sryets camp were better than what was issued here.*
Nothing fit as he was so small. The grey shirt and black short pants were hand- me- downs, his worn shoes were loose.
The only new bits were his black hat with the red star sewn to it and a red neckerchief emblazoned with the hammer and sickle.
"Vy, Kuryakin! You are dead," Maxim shouted from the shadows.

If you haven't I'll give you a link.
My portrayal of Illya in my stories is one of a man who is haunted by many demons, but in spite of that he turns out to be the Russian we know and love. I try to explain his little 'habits' that he displayed on the show, and how they developed....

Showing the reality of WWII, I felt I had to continue that 'reality based' background for IK to be consistent throughout my stories.
Thanks again for reading and commenting! I really appreciate it very much!

For what it's worth, I think that the dark elements added instead of detracted from the story. I think that sometimes people don't want to remember that dark times in life do exist and just want to think of life as all happiness and sunshine. They forget that good things generally come after the storm.
It really was an excellent story. Thanks again for the link! :)
