Independence Day - A Double Drabble Do Ya

New York City was lit up with celebrations as people indulged in fireworks displays honoring Independence Day.  Illya Kuryakin had been hesitant to accept any of the invitations to participate in this uniquely American holiday.

His new partner, Napoleon Solo, had insisted that they attend a baseball game at Yankee Stadium.  There would be fireworks after the game, he had promised; a safe compromise for the young Soviet.

“This is an acceptable way to honor your country then?”  Napoleon patiently applied himself to educating Illya in American culture.

“Yes, it’s the American pastime.  Watching a game on the 4^th is a perfect way to celebrate.”


Illya mused on that for a bit.  “So then, baseball is your favorite pastime and not chasing women?”

Smart alecky Russian.

“Uh, no… that’s not exactly what I meant.  And what do you mean by chasing women?  In case you haven’t noticed by now, they’re usually after me.”
The blond head canted to one side as Illya considered that.

”Ah.  So then, you are the pastime for the women, and baseball is your favorite pastime.  I see.”

But he didn’t really.  Living in America had challenges, and figuring out Napoleon Solo was chief among them.
