Growing up in the tri-state area, we were accustomed to a television station WPIX televising the yule log as their only programming, beginning on Christmas eve.  A few years ago they stopped doing it.  I think they finally brought it back by popular demand. So to me Christmas isn't complete without the Yule Log.

I never had a fireplace and one of my secret dreams is to have a place with one some day...a day dream that probably won't come true, so the Yule-Log video must do.

It's quite mezmerizing. So fix yourself a nice drink, a hot toddy or hot chocolate, put your feet up and gaze into the fire.

Before you know it you'll have visions of sugar plumbs dancing in your head... I too grew up in the NY area and remember the WPIX Yule Log. It has been many years since I've been there, or thought of the Log. Thank you for bringing back a

I loved the Yule Log! I don't think WPIX realized how many apartment dwellers enjoyed having that virtual fireplace with the crackling fire and Christmas carols playing in the background. I grew up in a house, but alas, it had no fireplace so the Yule Log meant a lot to me, too.

I remember the Yule Log on Channel 11, WPIX. Lovely to see it again. Now if only I didn't have to wake up every few minutes to re-start the tape...

I hope you get your fireplace one day soon. In fact, I have the distinct feeling that you will! Christmas wishes are never ignored. Meanwhile, Merry Christmas to you and your kitties!

I thought the log is supposed to last for 3 hours...hmm. Thanks for the good thoughts, but Christmas doesn't really happen for me anymore. It hasn't in a very long time. Is what it is.

Bronx girl here-- I know exactly what you mean. My cousins and I used to joke about how hot it was etc. my kids had the privilege of growing up with a fireplace. I loved it. Now I got to my daughter's - no fireplace, so we turn on the WPIX YULE LOG! Merry NY Christmas.
