'Short Affair' PROMPTS

2.2

Welcome to the first prompts of February. It really is astounding how quickly this year is going. It is the shortest month, so how about some short stories? Anything from 300 – 1000 words using the prompts which fate provides. The words the dictionary came up with this week are almost ideal for a tale from U.N.C.L.E.

As always, the prompts and rules are beneath the cut. I hope to see a few more of you joining in 

Have fun.

Napoleon was in the common yard, sauntering about as he continued to observe the guards and test the blind spot near the gate. So far everything looked good for their explosive exit.

When brought to the prison they’d been stripped of everything but their boots, thank goodness as that gave them the one tactical advantage they needed in order to escape.

Inside the heels of their boots were hidden explosive putty and wrapped within their laces, fuses. There was enough compound create a diversionary explosion at one end of the yard while there was a second explosion to blow the gate.  The more chaos they were able to create, the better their chance they and more prisoners could escape.

Unfortunately Napoleon and Illya couldn’t tell anyone but the good doctor about the plan as loose lips sink ships; no doubt there were snitches among the general population who’d turn them in for a packet of cigarettes or a few special privileges.

“Senhor, senhor!” One of the inmates came running up to Solo. “Your amigo, the blond one, he is in trouble come quick!”

Flopping down on his battered old sofa, Illya Kuryakin allowed his equally battered body to relax into the cushions. A two week assignment, followed by three days in medical, had left him feeling like one giant bruise. Solo sighting

"The Glass Bottom Boat" was on TCM channel the other morning.  It's a silly, light, Doris Day - Rod Taylor romp in which Doris is suspected of being a spy.  At a big party toward the end one of the men (not so cleverly disguised as a woman) walks past the bar and TA-DA!  Napoleon Solo is there, looking suave in his tux.  The music instantly breaks into the Man From U.N.C.L.E. theme. The guy looks away, stops and does a doube take, but when he looks again Napoleon has vanished.  I just cracked up when I saw that.
