Another winner in this series. what worked? pretty much everything. Liked much that IK chastised himself for being incompetent - harkens back to S1. Liked much NS's pursuit of the van and his smooth talking and when that didn't work his take-back-prisoner attitude. Liked much the science related to genetics and pregnancy. As an emergency department nurse for a few years, I can attest to some unusual things related to pregnancy. Your choice for this story was very compelling and so sad. Of course, loved the writing.
