About Lackadaisical

Anyone who owns a cat can tell you that felines have a tendency to be lackadaisical, or a bit lazy. The laziest breed of all might be the ragdoll. This (perhaps overly) friendly type of cat is known to go limp upon being picked up… but is also usually found lying limp around the house, too.

Did you Know?

Lackadaisical comes from a 17th-century word, "Lackaday," which was said when someone was frustrated, disappointed, or even surprised. It eventually evolved to its adjective form, lackadaisical, and the interjection fell out of popularity.

To the casual observer it could easily seem as though Napoleon Solo was quite a lackadaisical man. His relaxed posture, and apparent disinterest in what was being said, belied the sharp senses which were taking in everything.

Mr. Waverly stared at the new Section Two agents, all fresh out of Survival School. The young men seemed nervous, the legendary Alexander Waverly in front of them, Solo and Kuryakin standing at the back of the room. "Gentlemen, I will tolerate many things from my people, but a lackadaisical attitude is not one of them!". Despite his grandfatherly appearance, the new agents took his comment seriously.

Excellent! This deserves to be extended into a story! Who are these new agents, and what sort of trouble do they get into that requires IK and NS rescuing them? (How's that for a hint ?) "D

Anyone who didn't know Kuryakin might think him rather lackadaisical as the Russian was always cat-napping. Anyone who understood and Illya's affinity for them would realize that he was never truly asleep, and was always ready to pounce as his feline-like abilities kicked in.
