PicFic Tuesday prompt for Tuesday January 27th

Beginning February PicFic will be changing its schedule to every other week, due to addtions of other challenges as well as the "Vive le France" special event coming up in the beginning of March.

So  prompts will be posted on the 2nd and 16th of February, The stories for these will be due February 10th and 24th respectively. So in other words only 2 prompts will be posted for the month.

If you are new to PicFic, here's the rules of the challenge behind the cut:

Due: Tuesday, January 27th.
Statistical stuff: Minimum 500 words no maximum.
Subject Matter: Should fit into the GENeral concepts of the community, and contains nothing explicit and reflects the 1960's series in style and content. However, that being said, there is a GEN-mature tag option for stories that contain violence, torture, angst or mild het.
Subject Header: Please include in your Subject Header the phrase "For Picfic Tuesday, the due date and your title.
Tags: Use PicFic, Gen or Gen-mature.

I think it's a good thing to condense the challenges down this way a bit. We do have quite a lot of them here on section7mfu. So alternating them hopefully will allow more folks to write for each.

PicFic filled the gab where there was little else going on, so I think making more room is in order. Hopefully we can get more writers to take the plunge.

We need to keep stressing that non-challenge stories can be posted here as well.

I was thinking of doing the same for WML? and the new Episode Challenge. That is to say, One prompt each for those, so one story for each during the month. Even I am looking forward to a slowdown :D

Not a bad idea as I think we need a slowdown. We have to make sure our Calendar girl is on board with all these changes. Yikes!

Oh my gosh, no worries there! I was already contemplating cutting back on PicFic as it's hard coming up with a prompt and story every week. Twice a month will be like a vacation, though there's plenty of other challenges now that we can spread the love.

Ahhhh, I had a feeling you'd be freaking out. The calendar will actually be easier as with the exception of PicFic, Short Affair and Ladies First, everything else might be cut down to once a month. Nothing is finalized yet in that regard.

PicFic changes are a done deal as of February.

So breathe in, breathe out, breathe in , breath out. Have a piece of chocolate (it works for Harry Potter...) Focus on your he specific corporeal Patronus... "Expecto Petronum!"

No, not freaking out. Change is great; it keeps things interesting. Just keep the Calendar Girl in the loop when you and Glenna make your final decisions. Yum...chocolate.

Don't forget there's HODOWE and Lifecycle challenges in the mix also. Where's my wand?

We've been juggling and trying to reach a happy medium. I think this will do the trick, especially with the variety we now have.

I don't think there's too many challenges per se. We are after all a writing site, so the challenges enable us to keep a good flow of fics. going to attract readers. After all, a writing site without stories is dead. We may not get a lot of comments, but the stats indicate people are stopping by and reading.

We now have enough challenges that they enable us to spread things out a bit over each month. The challenges give writers a nice choice of the ones in which they'd like to participate.

Some people may not like PicFics, or drabbles or stories about the women from UNCLE (and THRUSH), so now there's plenty from which to choose.

Still we also need to keep reminding writers that Section VII isn't just about challenges and that they're free to post their stories here.

Yes, thank you. It's pasted in my Docs so I can refer to it when drawing up the schedule.

I have been in LJ for about a year now but doing the calendar for 6 months. I didn't pay attention to where all the challenges were posted back then. Have to be more on my toes now as it's a tad more complicated these days.

Doing the calendar frees Glenna and Mrua7 to do more writing and prompting. Sect.7 is growing! I do need to finish one of my own stories so I can post it.
