This is my first posted fic, and it is a drabble. Here goes!

"Hey, Illya…, know what today is?"

"Thursday.  Despite my recent head injury, I haven’t lost track of time…, yet."

"But do you know the date?"

"Yes…, I can read a calendar. Your point?"

"It’s Two-Two …, like you…, Section II, No. Two."

"And…?"

"I was thinking …"

"You shouldn’t overburden yourself so early in the day."

"'Groundhog' would make a great code name for you."

"Ah …, and shall I to go into hiding for the next six weeks, too?"

"Well…, no …"

"Then, no …"

"Spoilsport…"

"Yes …, it's one of the finer attributes of my beguiling personality."

Bending situations just enough to keep them within the realm of truth, while leaving out less than flattering details, can take a bit of clever word-smithing.

Tapping into the twisted world of domestic law with a wickedly poisonous pen and a thrill for writing nasty-grams, was addictive.

Ah, the good old days - I guess I was a bit like Susan Callaway from "Fiddlesticks". I had proven myself to be as slimy, sneaky, rotten, thoroughly depraved and of low moral fiber as the leaders of the pack.

Thank you! I just finished reading "Shadows" and enjoyed it very much. We have quite a difference in tone, yet both are in keeping with the guys. The realm of possibilities is an interesting place to play.

I wanted to try keep different point of view, not directly related to the holiday, although it was pulled into the 'shadow' discussion. Guess thoughts can drift on a stake out, so the idea of the Groundhog seeing it's shadow was among many that they deal with. I could have gone crazy with the shadow quotes and I found soooo many cool ones!

Yes the realm of possibilities is an interesting place!

Oh, I understand about finding good quotes. I'm working on a non-fiction manuscript, and I'm choosing a small quote per chapter. I could sit and read quotes all day.

There's something about the character of Illya that lends itself and blends well into the world of shadow and fog. There are times, though, when Illya seemed more clearly defined (for a character that was intended to be undefinable) than Napoleon.

Absolutely about Illya. We have David Mc Callum to thank for that as he wanted to keep the character somewhat mysterious. Ah yes Illya Kuryakin, International Man of Mystery.

Yes agree the mysterious IK has become a very full character thanks to canon and fanon, yet as full as his characterization is, he's still ethereal like shadow and fog. Maybe it't the black turtle neck...heheheheee.

There's a wonderful black and white photo of DM that Dennis Hopper made in the 60's - shades of black, with shadows and fog - it is mesmerizing, compelling and ethereal.

Yep, it's one of the photos Hopper made during the 60's - there were several up for sale after Hopper died. The only one I've seen that was sold is DM's.

I wonder who bought it, too. When I first found it, I posted a link, and a couple of folks made icons from the photo.

DM might have a copy of the photo since Hopper made it and not MGM.

At 6K Euros, it wasn't an inexpensive photo, and the site does have the buyer's pseudonym - not that it means anything. It could have been one of the kids or another family member. My first guess was neither.

BTW, Part 3 of the Cap & Gown series has a Napoleon cap that turned out really well. The photo-edit technique looks good. When I post that part of the comics, I'll post an icon as well.
