Two years ago I posted this list as a nod to our first big challenge here on Section VII: the HODOWE Groundhog Day Challenge.   HODOWE stands for Holidays of Dubious Origins Writing Event.  We had several throughout the year, and they produced some good stories and a fair amount of fun.
We've been around for nine years now, and I'm hoping this will be a year of revived enthusiasm and creativity for all of us, and lots of stories for the MFUniverse.

This was written back in 2012 as part of the HODOWE Administrative Assistants Day Challenge.  It's hot now, and this just popped up as a possible antidote.  Then again, you might need something to cool you off ;)

I nearly forgot about this one, sorry.

It was Sadie Hawkins Day and that meant a lot of hiding by the male members at headquarters.

Not that it was really a problem if they were caught, a marriage wouldn't be in the near future. It just meant a date of the woman's choosing. Trouble was if you were caught by more than one woman, it could result in some costly wining and dining.

Still the women who participated took it seriously enough to give chase. The corridors were crawling with women, who while doing their work, were on the hunt for UNCLE's most eligible men.

Those men who really didn't want to get caught went to some lenghts to avoid it.

November 13th - Sadie Hawkins Day

At this busy, festive time of year, it is easy to lose sight of the true spirit of the season. We at the U.N.C.L.E. remind you to pause, take pen in hand, and express to your cousins how much they mean to you. Our Holidays of Dubious Origins Writing Event is the perfect addition to your celebrations.

I'm going to get out of my lane a little and put in a plug for the Halloween Challenge over on [livejournal.com profile] mfu_scrapbook
There's quite a few prompts over there that are still unclaimed, and I'm thinking some of the writers here on Section VII just haven't noticed. Am I right? Because, let's face it, we do that here... writing.
We'll be having our own Seven Days of Halloween, but let's not forget to support writing for MFU when we see the opportunity.
It's a fact of life that there are fewer people participating now than in years past, but the fires of the fandom are present even if in need of some stoking.
So, if you haven't already, take a look at the prompts and see if anything calls out to you. Several of our members/writers here on Section VII have submitted story prompts (myself included), so it's a little like answering a challenge here in our own playground.
If you've been there once already but need a second look, here's where to find them... Halloween prompts

This is a writing season for us if you take a look at what's coming up in the next few months.  And there will be a Christmas Round Robin once again, so take a deep breath and start typing.

This was posted three years ago, I think it was a non-challenge story but I'm not positive. I thought of it instantly when I saw the prompt  for the Random Act of kindness day. The story fit it that theme perfectly...at least to me.  Enjoy!

Napoleon agreed to meet his contact for a drop at the Empire State building in the most visible but invisible of all locations. He stepped through the 34th St. entrance, walking casually but with purpose as he crossed through the lobby.

There was always a hustle and bustle as people came and went. Most were there for business, yet some came because it was romantic place to propose to a girlfriend, but to most it was a must-see for the view alone.

S7 ARCHIVES.jpg

Seven years ago a few of us ran with an idea to establish a community here on LJ devoted to writing Gen fiction for the Man from UNCLE.  The premise was to stick as closely as possible to the canon of the series, the themes and content that we all watched in the episodes.  Today the Section VII community is still standing, still seeing quality stories from talented writers who love Solo and Kuryakin, and the world of UNCLE.
Our first challenge back then was the HODOWE... Holidays of Dubious Origins Writing Event.  We've not seen that challenge for a while, and I've asked [livejournal.com profile] ssclassof56 to consider moderating it in tandem with the Great Episode Challenge. I hope this entry in the Archives will help her with the research ;)  I would also appreciate it if the other writers and readers would weigh in on it, let us know if you think it's a good time to reintroduce HODOWE into our schedule of challenges.  It would be a Seasonal Challenge, one for each quarter of the year.
So, have fun, the list is fairly long and has some excellent stories to help you through the weekend.

S7 ARCHIVES.jpgDuring our first year we had the beginnings of several ongoing challenges.  The biggest at the time was HODOWE; Holidays of Dubious Origins Writing Event.  Quite a mouthful.
In August of 2012 the holiday was Left Handers Day.  These are the stories that were posted for the challenge, or at least the ones tagged as such.  If I missed any please add the link in the comments.

The prompt:  Feb. 22nd, World Thinking Day
Summary: Napoleon and Illya are assigned bodyguard duty for a member of the Waverly Family.

This started out as a stand alone for the challenge, but it just begged to be continued. Chapter 2 iis done and will post tomorrow. I'm working on Chapter 3 now. I don't think it'll be a long WIP. Haven't done one in a while.
