The Christmas Round Robin begins on December 6th!!!

The prompt is being posted here today so that all of you can read it well ahead of time (it’s not too long) You'll also find the instructions and your posting dates. Read carefully!

Chapter 1. by ssclassof56 kicks off the round robin on December 6th.

The title of our Round-Robin story is "T’was the UNCLE Round Robin
Instructions to each writer: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

1. Upon posting your chapter in Section VII, you should pm the next person up in line so they know to go read it.

2. For the sake of continuity, it’s recommended that each writer reads the original prompt as well as the subsequent chapters before contributing their own chapter. Posting is a minimum 100 words with no maximum. As a reminder LJ does have limits on file size, so try not to write the Gettysburg address as you may not be able to post it.

As an addendum: the prompt is a poem but the chapters should not be rhyming or in the form of a poem...just good suspenseful and adventurous writing.

3. Please try to post your chapter as early as possible, ON YOUR ASSIGNED DATE, allowing the next writer enough time to read and compose their chapter.

4. Keep in mind that the tone of the story can easily change with each contribution. The story is open to all sorts of things angsty, scary, silly, creepy, dramatic or even ghostly, and of course evil THRUSHY stuff, but as a reminder section7mfu is a GEN site.

You can classify your chapter as gen-mature for anything that’s a little stronger like violence, angst. Please keep any het mild at most.

5. Use the title "T’was the UNCLE Round Robin" in your subject header along with your chapter number.

6. Please use the following tags: round-robin, Christmas, challenges, Section VII, gen or if necessary gen-mature. Oh and don't forget your 'user name.'

7. IF FOR SOME REASON you find you have a scheduling conflict for the date your chapter is due, then pm one of the other writers to see if you can switch places. Please pm mrua7 or glennagirl asap if there’s a problem!

Here is the schedule for the writers. Please post on your assigned date. If there’s an issue, message me and we can juggle the schedule. Not to worry.

(There may be one other special guest writer joining us...maybe.)

The prompt:

Twas the night before Christmas

And all through the halls,

(Those gunmetal chrome ones

From whence Justice calls)

It should have been quiet

As Christmases past

Had yielded a truce

Among enemies fast

Not so tonight

For the call came in,

'There's trouble in Scotland'

Seems THRUSH sees a win

Now Solo and Illya

Are heading that way

Who else might be with them

We'll see day by day

The weather is frightful

On Loch Awe's bleak shore

And Castle Kilchurn stands

Ravaged and poor

No longer with Campbells

To travel its girth

The halls here are empty

Save the chirping of Birds

The wintry scene

It cries out for reprieve

From the evil within it

From gluttons and thieves

THRUSH must be thwarted

Their plans brought to nought

With UNCLE's best agents

The victory's bought

So let us continue

The story's untold

It's all up to you now

To make it unfold

FYI:

Castle Kilchurn was built in the mid-15th century by Sir Colin Campbell. The four-storey tower, located on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, remained the Clan Campbell's base for 150 years until it was abandoned in the 1700s

There’s lots more of photos of the castle if you want to google for a better look.

Dates and rules acknowledged. One question - are we supposed to rhyme this?

RE: :)

No rhyming necessary ;) Some days I just need to do that and so I followed the muse. That would be an interesting round robin though... something to think about.

Clever prompt. Great setting. Excited to pick it up and run with it. :)

Phew. A poem would be asking a lot of me. My entry might have been a haiku.

Snow falls in Scotland
Solo and Kuryakin
Enter the castle

Next. :p

Read and understood :-)
I just have to remember the I'm on the 11th, not the 12th. (I sometimes get confused with the date being the other way around)

Read and understood. No conflict with my posting date.

Will have to ask you to move me later in the line up - I'm out of town and away from my trusty lap top attending to some personal medical issues - I'll be out of town until the 8th.

Just saw that you moved me - thank you!

Can't wait! Love the prompt...My ancestors also have a ruined castle in Scotland...one with a connection to Braveheart himself!

Also checking in for alynlusby.

We are both good for our dates.

Everything looks good. At this point, I don't see there being any problems with the date. Scotland and creepy castles, how fun!
