Writers Choice - The Vanya Series

I think a long snowy weekend is a nice time for a more mature duo of UNCLE agents.  This is my ode to the Return Movie, my version of how Vanya comes to be and... well, it's here.  The beginning of my 'saga' really has its start in the first season, so I'll give all of the links to the stories in order.

It's Writer's Choice Day today!

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these writers from  posting their links for WRITER'S CHOICE DAY here on Section VII.

Writers, post a link to a favorite story you've written, or readers, post a link to a story written by your favorite writer!  Please include a little blub about the fic, telling us briefly what it's about or what elements you like about  it.

If you're snowed in today, stay snuggy, keep warm and think MFU! Hmmm just imagine cozying up with Illya and Napoleon...ahem.

Illya could feel in in the air, like an electric charge dancing across his skin. Tonight he would kill a man, because he was ordered, but for revenge. This is an emotional story from Illya's past when he was still in the Soviet Union. Originally posted on section7mfu for the Song Story challenge; the prompt was the moody you-tube video of Phil Collin's "In the air tonight."  The story is Number 21 in my Illya series.

I hope you enjoy it, even though it's a little dark. Writing Illya Kuryakin's back stories are my favorites. Please feel free to comment here or on Fanfiction.net...they're very much appreciated! Thanks!

Writer's Choice: Mayday!

Author: Avery
Genre: GenAngst
Since the weather is so cold and snowy for many of the Cousins, I thought a nice warm dip in the ocean might be called for....or not. Read on.

Mayday

MAYDAY!

“Mayday! Mayday! This is Alpha Tango Foxtrot one-one-four.” Napoleon's voice, steady and professional, filled the Communications room of UNCLE's New Delhi HQ. “Losing altitude. Repeat, losing altitude. I am southwest of Ceylon -- bearing six degrees, three minutes North by seventy-seven degrees, forty-five minutes East. Airspeed is dropping; attempting to troubleshoot the problem, but --” A burst of static drowned out the last part.

“Blast!” Waverly tapped his briar pipe against the communications console in frustration. A dusting of ash fell, unnoticed, upon the sleek chrome counter. “Mr. Solo should know better than to broadcast his position on the public airwaves. Now every THRUSH agent within a hundred miles will be on his scent.”

Mood-Y Challenge Calendar for 2014

So here is the calendar for the Mood-Y challenges [livejournal.com profile] section7mfu will be running in 2014. (Only 5 this year as holiday time just gets a bit too hectic for everyone.) The dates listed are the posting dates, and this year the posting week will run from Saturday through the following Saturday, rather than Sunday through Saturday. (An extra day to polish off your story is always a good thing, right?)

Challenge 1: Sat, Feb 8th through Sat, Feb 15th
Challenge 2: Sat, Apr 12th through Sat, Apr 19th
Challenge 3: Sat, Jun 21st through Sat, Jun 28th
Challenge 4: Sat, Aug 16th through Sat, Aug 23rd
Challenge 5: Sat, Oct 25th through Sat, Nov 1st

For this series of challenges I will provide a one or two word "mood" and entrants are then challenged to write an MFU story that is representational of the mood assigned for that particular challenge. I will post the actual mood for the each challenge several weeks in advance. So you'll have plenty of time to consider how to incorporate the feel of it into your story, as well as actually get the writing done.

Minimum of 500 words (drabbles are not encompassed in this particular series of challenges) with no max. The material must be suitable for all audiences and reflect the style of the original series. Please use the mood-y tag when posting all stories.

I will assign the mood for the first challenge in a separate post today.

Mood-Y: Challenge 1

Hey, this posting is in February and that means Valentines' Day and this year the Winter Olympics, with all its nostaglia, as well.
So on that note, the mood for the first challenge is...
SENTIMENTAL

CHALLENGE: Write an MFU fanfic story regarding the feeling embodied in the above mood. The challenge is pretty wide open with regard to how the mood is incorporated, but do place the mood in a comment at the start of the story for clarity.

STATISTICAL STUFF: Minimum of 500 words (no drabbles) with no set maximum. Must fit into the overall concepts of this community, i.e., contain no explicit adult material and reflect the 1960s series in style and content.

POSTING: To this forum, starting on February 8th and ending on February 15th.
