Introducing the brand new ‘Short Affair’ Challenge

Last week I posted a short story to Section VII which was prompted by a random word plucked from the dictionary. I was having difficulty in finding theme for new stories and happened to glance at the dictionary, which is permanently stationed on my desk. I opened it at a random page, closed my eyes, and pointed. It gave me the word ‘key’. I had initially intended to start my own short story series until
Here’s how it will work:-
Every Monday, I will pluck two words from the dictionary and offer them both as prompts. I will also choose a random colour. This will be done using one of my multisided dice. Each number will have a colour assigned to it. You will then have the choice of which word to use, in addition to the colour, to build your story around. For example, if the words were key and window and the colour was red, your story would be based on either key/red or window/red. Don’t worry about those prompts, as they are only examples.
Stories will be due the following Monday. This will give you a week to come up with something.
This will be a short story challenge with fics coming it at between 300 and 1000 words. I will be posting the first prompts on Monday October 6th, with the first stories being due on October 13th.
I would like to thank
I look forward to taking part in this challenge with you.

This Sounds Interesting.
Re: This Sounds Interesting.
I'm really looking forward to the first stories, but will have to wait two whole weeks. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas.

This idea reminds a little of the story about how George Harrison wrote While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It has something to do with what he read in the I Ching (I think), taking a word or phrase and building something around it. Anyway, he opened a book and saw the words "gently weeps" and a classic was born.
I look forward to similar results ;)

There seems to be interest in this challenge so, hopefully, it should do well. Eventually, anyway.

I shall read it tomorrow (at least, I will try). Right now, I'm still writing for today's picfic challenge. I've written all of three sentences.
