The Round Table Is Full of Ideas...

Once again the Round Table discussion was interesting and has garnered another reading list as well as the idea for a challenge.  First, the list of stories can be found on the original discussion page HERE These are all related to The Gurnius Affair.
The next thing that came up was the idea of having a challenge devoted to episodic 'expansions', something that is directly related to one of the episodes.  Obviously it isn't a new idea as a story premise, but we'll be adding it to the Thursday lineup as an opportunity to explore more fully what doesn't get covered within the series.
Look for the Episode Challenge to begin in February, alternating with What's My Line?  and continuing... as long as we write it.
I hope more of you will drop in on the Round Tables on Sundays, they've been fun and informative.

So what are you calling this episodic challenge? Just so I can keep track mind you...

I added the tag "episode_challenge" to the list.

By the by, we already have a tag of "episode_related" that can be used regarding discussions, comments, etc., related to any MFU episode, rather than creating an extra tag for each of the 105 of them. [chuckle]

Definitely looking forward to them.

I'm Just Sayin'...

I just watched "The Hula Doll Affair" on H&I (yay!) and it made me think of how many things were "wrong" or never addressed with the series and how various writers, myself included, have tried to resolve those things that didn't ring true. For example, Illya and Napoleon used their real names quite a bit. Taliesin resolved it by saying those were their assigned names while I created alter egos who do the dull things like pay bills and taxes.

Anyway, all of that to say one of the Episode Challenges could be taking one inconsistency and we all write an explanation for it. In "Hula Doll," how could Mama Sweet be a "THRUSH woman first and a mother second, if at all" and her sons not only not know she was Central Committee, but joined THRUSH without knowing of her involvement?

Just a thought.

Actually, I think I might want to do this. Perhaps, once a month given the number of challenges we're facing? Starting next month?
