I've used the Spike nickname as a joke in a story, since it was something Napoleon did use once in the show.
Actually "partner mine" is fairly new. I never saw it in any of the older stories, just in the ones by the newer fanfic writers. Frankly, it's one I don't like. And I also don't like the use of "chum". I never ever see Napoleon calling Illya that.
But then I also do not like the lastname of La Chien for Angelique. Yet that's so set in fanon, I go with the flow, though it just doesn't really work for me.
