I am an ardent atheist, and because of his Soviet background, I also write Illya as atheist too. However, I think that deep down, he has a faith, but prefers to suppress it. 'Faith and Forgiveness' isn't a long story, but it has Illya searching for some answers following a difficult assignment. It was prompted by the poem 'Abou Ben Adhem' by Leigh Hunt, which you will see before the story

In my AU stories I had IK denying God because of the loss of his family during the war...eventually he finds his faith.

This was an excellent story and glad you added it to the Writer's Choice! Thank you!

I write him as an atheist too. But I think, like Solo, he is a humanist, so in a sense, he believes in something larger, if only an ideal.
