Sometimes I think Napoleon doesn't want to know what his partner is going on about...

A stream of curses in a melange of languages greeted Napoleon as he approached the one with his head beneath the hood of a shiny red roadster.

"Ah, excuse me but why exactly are you here?  I thought you were scheduled for a lab thingamabob or other."

Illya backed out from under the car hood, straightened up and shot his partner a look that dared him to remark on his appearance.  Smudged with black, he looked like the proverbial grease monkey.

"This,' he said, pointing to the car, "is the lab today.  Someone stuck a …"

"I don't need to know."
