"A meeting with Waverly" for A Little Drabble Do Ya!

A  drabble and a half

Unseasonably warm for December permitted Solo and Kuryakin to walk rather than take a taxi. Their destination, Del Floria’s and a meeting with Alexander Waverly.

Though there was the usual truce with T.H.R.U.S.H. other nefarious types might still be up to no good, and needed to be dealt with.

They arrived, making their way to Waverly’s conference room, seating themselves in silence.

“Welcome gentlemen, glad you could make it on this unusually temperate day.”

“Yes sir it is rather warm,”Napoleon said.

“Precisely. I’m wondering if there is mischief afoot.”

“Could it just be a fluke of nature? Or global warming, which I have read about recently. What makes you suspicious? Illya asked.

“Perhaps it's nothing. Just being a paranoid, wot?,” Waverly chuckled.” Now to the matter at hand. Your expense reports, and the loss of your guns for the third time this month…”  *

Excellently noticed, Waverly. And a good thought, Marian. The last line was a good end, too.

(Btw, I read on another site that Asimov had written a column about global warming as early as 1959 or '60. It does seem the sort of thing Illya might have read; and/or Napoleon. I suppose Naploeon doesn't go for sf magazines..?)

Our temp today was 14C (57F), yet 4 days ago, 4 inches of snow fell in 3 hours. Very odd.

It's been in the 60's all week long with one day hitting 70˚ (21+ C) Flowers are still blooming, the cherry blossoms in Washington DC are blooming, instead of in April. Hopefully the cold when it arrives doesn't shock and kill plants. Weird weather all right.
