The prompt:
The night air was filled with the scent of flowers, a heady sweetness that drew Napoleon Solo's libido to where it shouldn't have gone. He was on a stakeout.
It didn't help that the person he was observing was a voluptuous brunette who'd just given him a show by disrobing at her upstairs bedroom window; her curvy figure silhouetted behind her window shade.
Still it didn't leave much to the imagination.
"Hi there," Napoleon crooned into his communicator. He was feeling particularly amorous but was in no position to do anything about it. Neither getting laid, or even the good old tried and true hand method to alleviate his problem were viable options.
"Napoleon why are you calling me at three in the morning? Are you all right?" A tired sounding Kuryakin answered. He was pulling a night shift, covering communications as it was a holiday, one he had no interest in celebrating. It was Memorial Day weekend, a time for picnics, family gatherings and traveling down to the New Jersey Shore...at least for people who lived in New York City.
He gladly volunteered his time so the communications specialists could have this weekend to themselves and with whomever they pleased or not.
Sitting beside him was George Dennell who'd also volunteered his time along with several Section III agents capable of manning Communications.
"Why are you answering for Communications?" Napoleon was surprised it wasn't Veronica, Darlene or Kelly. They were the usual night shift.
"Holiday weekend, that I guess you did not recall; I volunteered my time."
"How kind of you. Illya you alone?" Napoleon whispered.
"Not exactly, there are several other volunteers here as well." Illya was wearing headphones, so no one else could hear Solo's voice. Still he suspected he needed to carefully word his responses to his partner." What is wrong my friend?"
"Weeell, you see I have a certain sort of itch that I can't exactly scratch right now."
"Where are you? Do you have access to a chemist? Perhaps an anti-itch cream will solve…"
"It's not that sort of itch, if you know what I mean, but keep talking. That will help get my mind off things." Napoleon ran his fingers through his hair, trying not to look at the woman who was still in the window...oh God she was running her hands along her body? So not fair.
Kuryakin paused, thinking for a moment until he finally understood what his partner was on about. He looked to his right, then left somehow concerned at how to answer. Replying with too much information would only fuel the rumors about he and his partner...not that he cared; he knew they weren't true. Still they did make for some awkward moments at times with their fellow employees.
"Are you still there tovarisch?"
"Yes, I do understand now to what you are alluding. What do you expect me to do about it for pity's sake?"
"I'd called thinking I was going to speak to one of the female Communication techs and not my partner, so I wasn't expecting you at all. Regardless of that fact;l I still need some help."
"Napoleon, you need to give it a rest. Focus on what you are doing...what is it you are doing by the way?"
"I'm on a stakeout in the bushes in a park."
"And this caused your predicament how?"
"Well I got a little bored and my mind started to wander. It didn't help that the woman that I'm watching, who's a real looker by the way, decided to do a strip tease behind her window shade back lit by a lamp."
"Letting your mind wander while on a stakeout is a good way to get yourself killed my friend. Keep your mind on what you are doing and not what she is ummm, doing. Understand?"
"Thank you Illya."
"For what?"
"You just got my mind off my problem."
"Good night Napoleon."
"Solo out."
He sighed as the woman had just turned off her bedroom light. Still, the idea of his being killed because he'd been distracted put an instant stop to his predicament.
Illya was definitely good at putting a damper on things, whatever the situation.
