I can relate to that story very much, though it wasn't Christmas, my Aunt Gerrie was also preparing to pass. One by one my cousins said their goodbyes and left. I was there with my second cousin, my Aunt's granddaughter. She asked me to sing "Edelweiss" to her, my Aunt's favorite song. She passed twenty minutes later. My Aunt was a beautiful singer and I think the song eased her passing. Your story and this reminded me of that day. Thank you for sharing it,
