I've read this before as well, and had absolutely no intention of reading it again tonight, but I got drawn in and could not stop.

I think this is one of the first stories I ever read back when I found fanfiction three years ago. It does pull you in... :D

The (unfinished) sequel, called "Epiphany", which I intend to complete someday, may be found on fanfiction.net and on AO3, with the main story (first published in Kuryakin Files) and a few poems.

It's my pleasure to recommend this story to Section VII... and everyone else ;) It's always seemed like a real life view of what might happen, with errors and tragedy close at hand; all of it done with the best intentions.
For me it's one of the MFU classics.
