I hope all my friends and cousins who celebrate this day of thanks will have a wonderful time!

Whether with friends and family or alone, it's all about being grateful for everything in life with which we have been blessed. No talk of politics today, no talk of anything negative, just gathering to celebrate the love of family and friends with good food, and love.

In the hustle and bustle of preparing for today, and for all the craziness of the Christmas shopping season being slammed in our faces, the real message of the holiday season can easily be lost.

Right now, my flatmates are enjoying turkey-flavoured treats and their puzzle balls my flatmates are felines, "friendly parents" breed. I have a vegetarian "turkey" and a homemade pumpkin cheesecake that I made yesterday so it would be ready today (a second one will go to a belated Thanksgiving dinner with friends who are coming from Chicago to visit her mother here in Milwaukee.)

Oops, Tovarish overshot her "prey". Gotta check on her.

I was supposed to go to St. Crispin's for dinner but I had another bout with vertigo. That was this morning and the nausea and headache still haven't gone, nor the ringing in my ear.

I nibbled at a turkey sandwich, but couldn't finish it. Was excited to go to St. Crispins, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

My flatmates are felines as well. They're not partial to 'people' food at all, except for green olives with pimentos...it's like catnip to them. So one each was their thanksgiving treat.

St. Crispin probably understands (a simple message or phone call just to let her know what's going on and she might put together a "to go" plate for some time later when you're ready...)

Concerning the turkey-flavoured treats: they are formulated for cats. The trio like to swipe salad greens from my plate when they can (that's the only "human" food they'll eat as long as there isn't any onions/garlic/vinaigrette on said greenery.) They especially enjoy any kind of lettuce, torn into "bite-sized pieces". They might sniff around an empty bowl from vanilla ice cream, too. :rolleyes:

Stupid question: did your furred managers react/"home in on" your ears today? I know that, whenever I have a sugar emergency, my flatmates will, especially Tovarish (she's already saved my life four times in six years.) My previous feline companion homed in on the person who had the greatest medical need, even homing in on my dear departed mother's cancer before anyone else knew she was as sick as she was. And there are other cats that do the same thing elsewhere.

Wow, cats that like lettuce...I'm impressed. Onions aren't safe for cats so good thing they steer clear of those.

My kitties have very limited tastes when it comes for their food. Chicken or Chicken with tuna and cheese...the canned variety. One does like dry food but it's not really good for her so she gets it more like a small treat. The other could care less.

Many years ago, I had my first cat and he loved "Doritos- nacho chips" He was like a vulture when I was eating them, so I had to share. He would only eat the brand name and would turn his nose up at the store brand.

None of my furry friends seem to sense any of my medical issues...especially the vertigo. (though I can usually tell myself when an episode is coming) One of my cats, many years ago, could sense earthquakes before they hit, that's about it. They are the best company, to say the least. "D
