First of all, let me say that I am so sorry for your loss.
Your chapter is wonderful, but a second dedication to Scott is in the middle of it and I think it may have deleted some of your words.
"An inkling of danger prickled Illya’s senses, just as Napoleon turned towards him, from his own exploration of the wall. A sudden pounding of hooves thundered out of the darkness, yet neither man could see anything. Dedication: I lost the first love of my life and the father of my oldest child, my daughter Hilary, two days ago. I had known him for forty years, and though we realized early on we weren't great married, we were still great friends. He had always championed my writing; he helped my get my first computer years ago. A part of my heart was always his, and I know he felt the same. I am flying very soon to Florida to visit my daughter and her family.
Though he tried to draw his Special, Napoleon found himself swept up into the air by a man on horseback. He fought briefly, until he was clouted painfully on the back of the head. He saw a bright flash of white, and then everything was black again." See what I mean?
