I found this challenge interesting, because in my mind it did not take me so much to another universe, but rather to an alternative explanation of his established behaviours... I realise we do not see him playing the lothario on screen, but I recollect his being very willing to be wooed by his various female companions, who all seem to want to take care of him. I think personally he is stuck with the monster he had created, and even with his fellow agents it does not hurt to be underestimated on occasion, so that he can then dazzle everyone with his genius...
