Thank you, this was built around the actual visit between LBJ and the Pope. In a previous story I had Solo and Illya awarded the same medal from JFK.
Unknowingly it mirrored the day that Robert Vaughn met LBJ at a party. Rose of Pollux pointed that out and I didn't even know the meeting had taken place. LBJ was rather blunt with Vaughn, just the way I unknowingly had him the same way with IK in the story. Serendipity at work I think.
Actually as I recall, plastic flowers were the big thing back in the 1960s. I remember my mom using them all over the place. Not for hypoallergenic reasons, as it was just a novel thing. Plastic flowers didn't die. If silk flowers were around, they were probably expensive, I know they're not cheap even today.
