“Remember the first time you saw a grocery store here?” Napoleon said as he stepped to the counter to pay for the makings of their steak dinner.
“Yes, it was amazing...all this food. And no lines.”
“Remember you tried to slip a loaf of Wonderbread under your coat?”
“Old habits die hard. That was the only way to get food when one’s stipend ran out.”
“If you had girlfriends, they could have fed you.”
“Where I lived, most were in the same situation. All the pretty ones were married and the others....well, I wasn’t that hungry.” Illya sighed.
