When this comm was first created, my inspiration was, not surprisingly, the show itself.  The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is about the two men (or three if we're counting the top guy), and their exploits in defense of world order.  I chose Section 7 because it  is the propaganda department, that place where all of the virtues of the organization are extolled, created or at least considered.

I wanted to repost Carabele's announcement on this challenge that opens on Sunday, August 12.  If you haven't started writing yet it isn't too late.  We may be small in number, but we're not afraid to be challenged ;)

CHALLENGE:
Write an MFU fanfic story regarding the ideas embodied in International Left-handers Day. Please be aware that, because the day itself didn't come into "officialdom" until 1976, the name of the holiday should not itself be mentioned in your story unless it takes place in or after that year. If you are sticking to the 1960s of the series, just have your tale embody a scenario that fits the concept behind the date. General ideas here: (1) actual left-handedness of course, whether natural or learned; (2) awkwardness, whether physical, emotional or mental; (3) of dubious sincerity or worth, e.g., a left-handed compliment; and (4) here's one really out of left field (pardon the pun) -- of, relating to, or born of a morganatic marriage (have a blast with that one [laugh]).

STATISTICAL STUFF: Minimum of 500 words with no set maximum. Must fit into the overall concepts of this community, i.e., contain no explicit adult material and reflect the 1960s series in style and content.

POSTING: To this forum (and on fanfiction dot net), starting on August 12th and ending on August 18th.
