Okay, I ran across this story and decided it wouldn't hurt to take another look.  It's one of my early efforts, and if you'll indulge me (just a little), I'm going to recommend it today.  And, in the spirit of nepotism (something we can indulge for weeks), please send me links to one of your favorite stories and we'll spend a few Fridays reliving some of our early works. Here's your opportunity to showcase some longer stories that may not have made it into Section VII.
We can call it Writer's Choice.
 I guess I'm going first, and I warn you, there are mistakes in it.  One of these days I'll clean it up, but in the meantime...

“Papa!”

“Yes, Leona?” Illya was sitting on his bed reading an H. G. Wells novel with his feet propped up and his back against his headboard. It was a Saturday afternoon and Napoleon had gone into the office hours earlier to teleconference with his counterparts in the other HQs. Leona and her teddy bear Rollo had been involved in a very formal tea party at the foot of his bed with fake tea and real cookies. He smiled to himself when he overheard his daughter whispering to her bear.

“Let’s play ‘Hide and Seek!’”
