Well we're expecting snow here again on Tuesday/Wednesday, though nothing specific yet. Like everyone else, am sick of the white stuff and long for chirping birds, daffodils, and hyacinths in bloom. Those are the harbingers of Spring that I want to see! Well those and some good MFU fics!

So as always, it's time to give us links to your own favorite stories or to those of your favorite authors. Just a reminder to please post links appropriate to Section VII.

Here's a story by our own Carabele that takes place during the summer Olympics. 18,000 words + so a nice weekend read. She summarizes it thusly: "A Thrush plot in the offing with regard to athlete drug testing during the Summer Olympics of 1968 brings Napoleon and Illya to Mexico City. TIMELINE: Late Summer into Autumn 1968"

Enjoy!  Comments are always appreciated!

Originally posted for the HOWDOWE Challenge for the Vernal Equinox, I figured this would be nice to revisit, seeing as how Spring has sprung.  It was inspired by a conversation with Avirra regarding Gilbert and Sullivan, so I have her to thank for this piece. A salute to Spring, the boys, and the operetta "The Mikado".

The scene is a simple one: "Illya and Napoleon discuss the coming of Spring while on their way to Del Floria's"

The Boxing Affair is one that was published as part of Kuryakin Files #32.  I'm posting it on ff.net, but it's taking a long time for them to get it live.  Here is the first part, chapters 1-4.  As an aside to a particular within the story: by most accounts, David McCallum was somewhere between 5'7" and 5'8".  Based on his appearance I've put his weight at around 145 pounds.  I think that's fairly accurate.

The Boxing Affair
chapter 1

"What are you reading today, Illya? Perhaps a new scientific journal or something a little less interesting than day old bread".

Napoleon Solo loved to kid his partner, hoping each time to propel the solemn blond from his boring books and journals and into something more amenable to his own gregarious pursuits. He was not someone who lacked the intellectual capacity to appreciate the erudite subject matter his friend favored, only the desire to consume it.

Illya Kuryakin looked up from the magazine in front of him, removed his dark lensed glasses and raised one eyebrow; it was an obvious sign of disapproval and condescension.

"As it happens, I am reading an article on the upcoming Pan American Games, to be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil. It appears that we, you and I, will be going there".

That sounded better. It was nice and warm down in Brazil, instead of cold and drizzly as it was in New York at present.

"Well, that is wonderful, isn't Illya. And, pray tell, what are the details, my Russian friend?"

Illya shook his head, trying to remember why it was he actually liked this irritating American. Oh, best friend and partner…saved my life a few times…
