Been a while for this one, and I'm sorry about that. I'll try and get back to more regular updates of it.

The Reluctant Traitor Affair Part 5

Napoleon whistled a jaunty tune as he walked towards headquarters. Two weeks of vacation on Tahiti – the first spent with the devastating Carolina and the second spent by turn with the equally beautiful Fiona, Mirabelle and Ashley – and he felt relaxed, refreshed, and ready to get back to saving the world.

And more than likely he'd have to jump straight back into it. He'd got back late last night but not so late that he hadn't given Illya a call, just to check in and to see if there was anything he'd missed while he'd been away. There'd been no answer, which probably meant that Illya was out on assignment somewhere and more than likely Napoleon would be sent straight out to join him. He supposed he could count himself lucky that it apparently hadn't been so serious that his vacation time had been cut short.

Today is prompt day, not as in being on time prompt, rather the prompting to write a story for our challenge titled What's My Line? It gets a little confusing because that question mark must always be at the end of the title, even if the sentence itself is not a question.  But there's no question this time, rather a ... Oh wait, it is a question.  So the prompt, which last time aluded to the idea that someone truly was late, is about to be revealed....
Shall we dance?
Posting begins September 24 and runs through that weekend.  Gen, minimum 500 words, etc, etc... Have fun!

Thanks to a brilliant suggestion by Glennagirl, we're having a gen round robin, using only drabbles. (half-drabbles or double-drabbles too)  Signups are happening already!

Follow this link to the set-up and rules, and to sign up for your drabble chapter.
This should be fun!

The title of this challenge is "The Fortune Cookie."
(you'll see why when you check out the link here.

In a comment from [livejournal.com profile] otherhawk she mentioned her file of stories that needed to be 'expanded', and the idea struck me that all of us probably have a few in our own file cabinet that are works in progress, and in need of completion.
So, here's what I'm suggesting...
Let's make Fridays the day to celebrate our overload of story ideas and start finishing them, posting them and being done with them.  Start small if you need to but if you have that unfinished story, or the one that was simply a primer for a longer story, then get it done and post it on Fridays.  Whether it is the next chapter inspired by a PicFic, a drabble or just that idea floating around without a challenge home, then Friday is your day.
I know of at least four stories that I have staring back at me from my computer screen, how about you?
If you're looking for beta help there's always [livejournal.com profile] mfuwss You can post a story and ask for help, suggestions and betas on that site.  Don't let your unfinished stories languish in a heap of ideas, let's get them finished.
Of course any day of the week is open for posting new stories, but Friday is a day to shoot for if you have been waiting for a reason to finish something that has been delayed for some reason or other.
The topic is open for discussion, so let's fine tune this concept and start finishing stories.

“Mark?  Are you okay?"

“What?  Yes, Napoleon.”

“You seem a little…off.”

The Brit sighed, “Truth be told, I am.  April is off with Illya. Again.”

“I thought you and he settled your disagreement about her.”

“We did.  It’s just…well, I’m jealous. They seem so happy.”

Napoleon was stunned.  “You want April?”

“No, I want what they have.  I’m lonely. No offense, but I’m not as sexually free as you are.  I want to do my job, but I want a relationship.”

“You can’t have both, my friend.”

“I know.  Something has to give.”

“Let’s have dinner and talk.”

“Thank you.”
