I think this has to be one of my favorites when considering my own work.  It has the right amount of irreverence and cheek, I think, and a nod (as always), to the partnership.  I may have rec'd this one previously but here it is again.

What’s My Line prompt: ‘When hell freezes over’

The winds were blowing wildly. shaking the window panes in the old Victorian house like bones rattling on a skeleton. Her moans and groans were helped along as rain pounded mercilessly on her roof and walls.

“It sounds like this place is going to come down around us,” Kuryakin complained. “When will UNCLE start finding better safe houses for their agents to use? Was there any sort of reports on the radio about tornados? It surely sounds like it out there. I do not want to die in one.”

“Ever the fatalist aren’t you tovarisch?” Illya's unusual nervousness at the storm came as a surprise to his partner though Napoleon decided not to rub it in.

“And you are the optimist my friend, so we balance out our partnership very nicely.”

They were finally freed after being allowed their phone call; much to Alexander Waverly’s dismay at having to rescue his two top agent from the NYPD.

Returning to headquarters and reporting their findings, the Old Man was concerned at their wanting to follow up on a tip given by a drunken bum from the lockup.

“At the moment that and my readings during the waterspout event are the best clues we have to go on sir,” Illya said.

“We’re going on the presumption that what our inebriated friend told us about Belvedere Castle was accurate,” Napoleon interjected.

“Perhaps coincidence,”Illya said, “but was not the castle once used as a weather observatory?”

“That’s correct Mr. Kuryakin,” Waverly seemed to muse.

I recall many years ago when I came to New York hearing,Right now, the temperature in Central Park is…’

“Indeed a bit of history. The National Weather Service reported New York's weather from the castle's tower with the aid of scientific instruments that measured wind speed, direction and such. I recall it was closed down several years ago and has fallen into a state neglect.”

“Perhaps it is again occupied and not for reporting the weather?” Illya’s eyes narrowed.

I like this story because April proves she is just as good, and sometimes better, than the boys.  The link takes you to AO3.

As the Easter bunnies pack towards us, like so much Jurassic Easter, I'm reminded of how lucky I've been in the fills to my Easter prompts. Of the gen, most in the fandom will have read them already, but I do think worth rereading is:

On Wednesday [livejournal.com profile] glennagirl wrote a wonderful drabble called 'Fine', which everyone should read.

Anyway, the last line put me in mind of a short piece I wrote a while ago which is called 'Always Fine'. It's basically about Illya's constant assertions that he is fine, even when he isn't.

The link to Glenna's story is for an LJ page. Mine takes you to ff.net.
