This story was written for the HODOWE Challenge, specifically Guy Hawkes Day.  As we bid adieu to Writer's Choice for a well deserved respite, I think an homage to one of our other popular challenges is in keeping the spirit of things intact.
The links that are highlighted in this post will take you to the long list of entries within that category.  You could read for days.

Today will be the last Writer's Choice until further notice. It's going on a little hiatus, just to take a break.

So now is the time for you writers to rec your own favorite stories, or those of your favorite authors
here by posting a link them here on Section VII.  Readers, aren't left out either and please post links
to your favorite stories here as well.

You can post your links for gen, gen mature stories

Yes a fond farewell to the Writer's Choice today. It's been a good run but
time to give it a little rest. (though Writer's Choice will eventually return)
Thanks to everyone who has participated over the years!

Originally written for a Song Story Challenge; "Are you up to the task" finds
Napoleon
and Illya spending a sleepless night discussing the merits and drawbacks
of their job.

Inspired by the George Harrison song "Save the World."

I like this story even though one of my original characters comes to a bad end.  This story shows we're all human and we all make mistakes, some of which can't be forgiven.  Betrayal is on AO3.

Because File 40 will soon be gone, I've been copying my favorites to my Google Drive and came across this story by Valentina. It's a Christmas tale that always tugs at my heartstrings. If you're an Illya girl, this tale's for you. It's called "Madonna and Child"

Apologies for not being around much, but life isn't playing fair at the moment. Anyway, I couldn't miss posting something before Writer's Choice goes on hiatus.

I think that my writing strengths lie with short works. I love the challenge of a drabble, and I love packing a story into a small space. I'm currently transferring all my stories to AO3 and have a series called 'Brief Briefings'. These are stories which are between 201 and 600 words. So far, I have transferred 15 pieces over and would like to recommend them to you. Enjoy.
