Welcome to the prompts for the first Short Affair stories for September. How time just zips by when you’re not looking.

Everything you need to know is below the cut.

There is still plenty of time to contribute to today’s posts from last week’s prompts. If you want to join in, you’ll find those prompts right here.

Remember, Section VII is a Gen site, but stories which are Het, Long-term Romance or AU can be posted in the Map Room. You’ll find the link for it down the side there.

Have fun.

An AU story of the future Kuryakin family.

The sound of footsteps carried down the hall, their light, steady tread easily recognizable. In the next corridor, hidden in a darkened doorway, a figure waited, ears alert, muscles taut with anticipation. His quarry rounded the corner, the footfalls softening as they moved from hardwood onto carpet. They passed the preceding doors in quick succession: the closet, the bath, a bedroom. He raised his arms in preparation. The steps reached the edge of his doorframe. With a ferocious roar, he pounced.

“Why you little agent provocatrix!” Kuryakin was on his hands and knees, scrambling to reach behind his sofa.

Napoleon had just walked into the Russian’s apartment, garment bag in hand, and was hit with the view of Illya’s rear sticking up in the air. Not exactly what he’d expected to see.

Alexander Waverly stood in the hallway of his home, fingering the package that had just arrived by special messenger. He had had to examine the package for tampering, and then sign to say it had been received intact with seals unbroken. He recognized the seal well enough. The package had come a long way, and its arrival heralded sad news. No, tragic news.

The red-eye back to New York was practically empty, which Napoleon was grateful for. The hospital might have declared Illya fit enough to travel but his partner's face was still too pale and gaunt for Napoleon's liking. An extra few days of rest would have been welcome. As it was Illya had fallen asleep before the plane even took off, and he had only roused long enough to eat the unidentified meal that the smiling stewardess brought round before his eyes were closed again.

In the interests of maintaining tradition, Napoleon just sat and read his newspaper and acted like he wasn't worrying.

After receiving no answer to his knocking, Illya let himself into his partner’s apartment. He knew Napoleon should have been there, as they had agreed to have breakfast at the apartment before heading to the airport. If there had been any change of plan, such as an unexpected date, Solo would have called him. Shouting out his presence, so as not to startle Napoleon, he began a search of the place.
